Going a distance

My nephew is missed so much here at home. With the whole family and some selected relatives, we packed up and drove all the way to San Fernando, La Union to give him a surprised 7th birthday celebration.

While my brother was on the way to pick him up somewhere, we busied ourselves decorating the suite we rented out with party needs like balloons, happy birthday signs, the so called 'banderitas' all pasted on the wall and not the least his favorite kiddie spaghetti brought all the way from home & his chocolate cake with Spongebob character's Patrick on top. Unfortunately, the cake was a bit messed up when it made it in La Union (with much apologies to my nephew, we are gonna get you another cake when you visit again your daddy in Manila).

He was all stunned and surprised with 'SURPRISE!' shoutings and 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...' chants when he got inside the suite. He was speechless and confused with all the people around him but we knew that deep down he was happy. He was scrutinizing everything hanging in the room, from the balloons to the birthday signs, etc. Perhaps he wondered what we were doing there since his dad kept our planned visit secret from him until that morning we arrived in La Union. Of course, he never missed making a wish, as prodded by his dad, before blowing his 7th birthday candle.

My best wishes to you my dear nephew. We miss your presence so much. We hope to see you stay again in Las Pinas soon.
